Easy Homemade Pumpkin Spice Cake Mix | Cake Mix In A Jar | Free Printable | Gift Idea

Hey y'all! Hope you are doing well. Today I am sharing how I make my easy pumpkin spice cake mix in a jar. This tastes better than any box cake mix I have ever made. The mix in a jar is just as convenient and it also makes a great gift idea.

I made a video showing how I make it. You can find that here.

To start sift 1 1/4 cup of all purpose flour.

Now add 1 cup of brown sugar

Then add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. When you mix flour and cornstarch and sift it together it makes cake flour which makes your cake nice and fluffy.

After that add 2 teaspoons of baking powder

Now add 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Last add 3 teaspoons of pumpkin spice. I make my own pumpkin spice. Here is the blog with the recipe and also printable labels for your spice jar.

This mix fits perfectly in a quart jar. We also made labels for the dry mix as well as the cake recipe. We printed ours at 80% scale and that worked for our jars. The front label for the dry mix is here .

The back label is here.

Now take one stick of softened butter and cream it.

Then add 2 room temperature eggs.

Next add 1/2 cup of milk.

After that add a teaspoon of vanilla. I like this Mexican vanilla. I get mine locally but you can also get it on amazon. I will leave a link at the bottom of the blog.

Now just mix the wet ingredients together.

Then add the dry ingredients or your mix in a jar. Mix that for a couple of minutes.

Now grease the baking pan. I like to use the butter wrapper.

Pour your batter into the pan and spread it as evenly as possible. I like to tap the pan on the counter to get the air bubbles out.

Now bake the cake at  300 degrees F for 20 minutes (Your baking time may vary depending on the
appliance you are using).

While the cake is cooling whisk together the
glaze. To a bowl add 4 tablespoons of milk and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla.

Then add 2 cups of powdered sugar. If you want your icing thinner add less powdered sugar. If you
want it thicker add more.

When the cake has completely cooled add the glaze and enjoy!
